Grids and e-Science is a post-graduated course organized by the Spanish
National Research Council (CSIC) in the area of Physics and Tecnological
Sciences.
This is the fourth year that the course is delivered, and the third time
that it takes place at IFCA. The course is cofinanced by CSIC.
The objective of the course this year is to give an overview of the
current status of grid infrastructures from several points of view:
infrastructure, midldeware and applications. The course will run monday
to friday in morning and afternoon sessions.
The morning sessions will be devoted to presentations, the afternoon to
practical exercises. In the first part (monday and tuesday) it will deal
with the use and
deployment of e-infrastructures based on glite. The course will contain
here a tutorial of EGEE.
We also want to make people aware of the developments related with
Globus Toolkit 4.
This will take the first two days of the course. We have speakers from
IFCA, Rediris, BSC and UCM.
On Wednesday we will mainly present the status of the art of middleware
focussing the problems of resource allocation,
monitorization and in general broking and scheduling on the grid. Here
we count with developers from the UAB to talk about resource brokering,
and from UCM which will talk about Gridway and make a practical sesion
to install this scheduler on a testbed.
The developers from Cesga will also be here to explain everything we
need to know about monitorization of grids.
Thursday will be the MPI day, Sven Stork and Enol Fernandez will talk
about MPI implementation at the level of the int.eu.grid infrastructure, and
its extension to EGEE.
Friday will be devoted to scientific applications. We count already with
speakers from several areas (Fusion, HEP, Medical Imaging, Environment,...)
