EGEE-SA1-SWE News
Gonzalo is attending the LCG3D workshop. He will be replaced by Andreu Pacheco in the EGEE-SA1-SWE meeting and by Carlos Borrego in the Grid Operations Meeting. This project has as objective to setup a Oracle-based distributed database between all the Tier-1s and CERN for the LCG project.

Important LCG Security Holes have been reported, mainly in the storage element components.
Ian Neilson from CERN has requested to SWE what is their planned contribution to the LCG Security Challenge I. He contacted Miguel Cardenas, our security contact with no answer at January 6th of January and last friday Feb 3rd, he contacted me. As Miguel is engaged with the new center in Extremadura we may need a new person to appoint for this security challenge.
Mario David and Nuno Dias assisted to the TPM meeting. Need for a second TPM team of two members in SWE. This issue will be reported to the next SWE collaboration board.

EGEE Phase II Proposal.
The taskforce established in October to prepare the proposal for the second phase of EGEE (call opening in May and closing on 7 September 2005) is pursuing its activities with the aim of giving ideas and directions in time for the third EGEE conference in Athens. Further details can be obtained from the Project Office.
New Proposals and spin off projects
The EGEE project has been approached by a number of project initiatives to profit from forthcoming EU calls. One of these calls closes on 17 March 2005, with projects intending to cover the following extensions to EGEE:
Extensions in geographical coverage:
e.g. Baltic countries, Latin and South America, Mediterranea countries,
as well as Asian countries such as China.
Extensions in functionality and applications:
accounting technology, documentation, training, and biomedical.
